Year in review: Two people reminiscing in front of the sunset

In a time so bogged down by grief and struggle, it’s hard sometimes to reflect on the positives. A global pandemic stretching over two years at this point is a hardship on anyone, even the steeliest amongst us, but there are silver linings.

Human beings are remarkably formidable, and that’s something to be proud of. The strength of will and character it’s taken for us to get through these trying times is something to be proud of. Admitting that we’re a little down, or struggling, is not only okay but it’s something to be proud of. Noticing a theme here?

Pride can come from many things, and it’s something to be embraced. Being prideful doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re succumbing to arrogance, or that you’re ego-centric. It means that you recognise the strength within yourself and can act as your own biggest fan and more confidently support others. For us at Clooper, pride is also an opportunity. To reflect on ourselves, and how far we’ve come, what we’ve done, and how we’ve done it. It’s a chance to share with others: happiness, accomplishment, joy, excitement and fulfilment.

As a company, we are proud of the progress we’ve made. Clooper’s come a long way from being a curious dream way back in 2018. Introducing our recent switching service, Clooper Switch has been a huge accomplishment for us, and we’re currently working to take even more leaps and bounds for our customers. It’s something we’re incredibly proud of, and something we are ecstatic to share with you. Everything we do here is to benefit others, to help others live life joyfully in a home that they love, so to celebrate this and the team that made it happen, we came together to talk about what pride means to us personally.

We asked each of our Cloop’d to tell us one thing they were proud of this year. It could be related to Clooper, it could be personal, it could be big, and it could be small. Our reason for doing this is simple. After a few years of sorrow and loss and unrest, we wanted to remind people to look inwards for joy. To take a step back and really look at what they’ve achieved, and what they’re proud of themselves for, even when times are hard. We wanted to express the importance of self-appreciation and bring some positivity and light to the forefront. So here’s what our Cloop’d had to say:

“I’m proud to have built a team of approximately 20 capable individuals who believe in our vision and in whom I deeply respect. Some of whom can also lead Clooper in my absence.” — Toks

“I’m proud of waking up every morning and giving the day my very best and being there for my loved ones without hesitation. :)” — Sara

“I’m proud of our journey so far, my colleagues and excited about the magic we are about to create.” — Yetty

“I’m proud of working with great minds, adding more knowledge to myself and also being given the opportunity to get things done at a flexible pace.” — Sodiq

“I’m proud of how Clooper is the blueprint for ‘humanity in the workplace.’” — Ken

“I’m proud to work alongside such a fantastic team at Clooper. I’m proud of my friends and family for everything that they do. I’m also proud of myself, for living through a pandemic at such a young age, and maintaining my positivity through all the hardships that posed, as I’m similarly proud of everyone else who has done the same.” — Teddy

“I’m proud to be part of this amazing team that is committed to simplifying and improving users’ experiences.” — Kenneth

“I am proud of my decisions this year and the resources to be able to push through it’s been an amazing experience so far.” — Sarah

“I’m proud of Clooper’s sense of community among team members!” — YD Brief Team

“I’m proud of raising money for the homeless by getting to 60k of running during a ‘man flu affected’ month. It will be 100k by 1st week of November!” — Matt

“I am proud of how the founders have strategically hired and are able to lead this dream team with love; this positive energy that exists has made each and everyone unconsciously influence me positively in key aspects.” — Temitayo

“I am proud to be part of this united team and getting the chance to experience my journey in Clooper.” - Cristina

“I’m proud that clooper is a Signatory member of the UN Global Compact. Also, its members continue to be purpose-driven by raising money for Shelter and The Passage as well as making donations and providing mentorships to Homeless Action in Barnet and Genesis House respectively.” — Nagawa

“I am proud of my biggest achievement this year, getting to do the thing I’ve wanted to do ever since I was little, which is writing! And not losing my mind this year and at moments when I thought I’d lose it again, I found it again through valour and patience and humour.” — Christine

“I am proud of Clooper: when asked my ideal workplace, I remember saying teamwork and a fun environment. Thanks to everyone for making Clooper my ideal workplace.” — Toby

Our team works remotely, made up of people from all walks of life, but what we have in common is our appreciation for one another. In that lies an appreciation for ourselves, and the world around us. It all aligns with our ethos: we were created to connect people, to make their lives easier. Our mission is to help create a world where everyone has a place to call home and live joyfully. That mission began and lives through us.

Similarly, your success in your own goals begins and live through you. That alone is something to be proud of yourself for.

Get to know about us more here, and we’d love to know: what are you proud of this year? Whatever it is, we’re proud of you, too.
